Hi,

Quality website, thought I might send our own contribution.

My self and my new wife Anne have just married, we both have red hair and her maiden name was actually REDHEAD!
We also have a bet with William Hill that our first child will have red hair! It made the press here in Yorkshire and in some of the National papers...!

Hope you can find a space for us on the site!!

Cheers
Jonathan and Anne Hughes

YORKSHIRE POST EXCLUSIVE
BY ROD McPHEE

A GINGER bride-to-be and her flame-haired fiance are praying they'll see red when their first born arrives - they have £750 riding on it.

The family of Annie Redhead have placed a £250 bet with bookmakers that the couple's child will share their copper locks when he or she comes into the world.

And after learning both Annie and her future husband Jonathan Hughes are the only members of their families to own bronze barnets William Hill agreed to odds of 3 to 1.

But the couple, of Leeds Road, Ilkley, still have three months before the wedding and haven't even started thinking about a family.

Annie said: "The colour of our hair has always been a bit of a joke among the family and this is just one more really.

"My parents really didn't intend to give me the name A Redhead, but it has always been the subject of a laugh every time I sign for a credit card or write a cheque in a shop.

"Neither Jonathan nor I know of anyone else in our families like this, so if we do have any kids we really don't know what to expect."

The ginger link even extends beyond Annie's hair, name and fiancé.

Her pharmacist father, Peter Redhead, started out selling ginger tablets from his herbal remedies business Friar Tucks. The winnings (should they arrive) will be placed in a savings account for the child and the family plan to hold a collection among guests at the wedding to cover the wager.

The initial bet was paid for by Annie's sister, Jenny Myers, of Airedale Grove, Horsforth, Leeds. She said: "It was always a source of amusement, she was the only ginger member of the family.
